Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) is the international governing body of the sport of football (sometimes called soccer). It is based in Zurich, Switzerland.

FIFA was formed in Paris on March 21, 1904 and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2004. It announced in April 2004 that it is expecting to earn $144 million profit on $1.64 billion in revenue between 2003 and 2006

The organization works in conjunction with regional arms that oversee football development in the different parts of the world. The six confederations that comprise FIFA (and the regions that they govern) are:

• CAF - (Africa)

• CONMEBOL - (South America)

• CONCACAF - (North and Central America)

• OFC - (Oceania)

• UEFA - (Europe)
